Sixty McAllen Business Owners Spent Their Saturday Morning Learning AI

July 23, 20262 min read

More than 150 local business owners signed up for a free morning of AI training in McAllen on Saturday, July 18, and 60 spent the start of their weekend in the McAllen Public Library auditorium learning how to put the technology to work.

The event was hosted by Evermore Digital together with the RGV Women's Chamber of Commerce. It was free and open to anyone running a business in the Valley.

The room was full of the kind of owners who do a little of everything themselves, the ones answering their own phones, writing their own posts, and chasing their own follow-ups. The morning was built for them. Instead of big promises, the session showed real tools working on the real tasks that eat up a local owner's week: writing content, answering clients, and keeping up with the day to day.

Attendees also saw the major AI platforms run the same task side by side, which made it easy to see what each one actually does. Another part of the morning focused on a simple idea. Most businesses are quietly losing time and money in a handful of predictable places, and there is usually a practical way to plug each leak.

The training ran two hours, and the hour that followed turned into something worth noting. People stayed. Owners who walked in as strangers stood around trading contact information and comparing notes on what they planned to try first. Several stayed until the room had to close.

"I learned a lot of things about AI that I didn't know. It was really worth it. I would go again if there is another session in the future," said Ernesto Lopez Jr., owner of Lincoln Street Media.

The morning came together through the partnership between Evermore Digital and the RGV Women's Chamber of Commerce, which has worked to bring practical business resources to owners across the region.
